You’ve probably come here because a lot of people you respect have talked to you about being an HXP Trip Leader. But what are you even signing up for? Let us tell you: you are signing up to love kids who will change your life. You’ll get to know these Builders, have fun, cry, laugh, work hard, serve, be stretched beyond what you thought you could—and that’s just the first day. Are you ready for it?
• A strong testimony of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a life that consistently reflects that belief.
• Proven ability to inspire and help youth develop greater faith in Jesus Christ.
• Confidence in who you are and your ability to impact lives for good.
• A pattern of excellence in your academic or professional history.
• Leadership Experience
• Previous international experience (beyond a mission).
• Experience working with youth (14-19).
• 21 to 30 years of age by May 31, 2026 (majority of our Trip Leaders are 22+).
• Commitment to attend a mandatory “Sorting Day” event on March 6, 2026. This is where you will find out the location of your trip and the names of your Builders. Those living within 4 hours of the event will be expected to attend in-person, otherwise Zoom attendance is acceptable and mandatory.
• Commitment to attend a three-day-long IN-PERSON Trip Leader Training, May 7-9 2026 in Garden City, Utah. No Zoom option will be offered. Any and all Trip Leaders must attend the training in its entirety to be eligible to lead an HXP Trip.
• Able to commit to 45 hours of preparation during the year leading up to your trip.
• Able to commit to 3-5 weeks to Humanitarian Experience during Summer 2026.
• A current temple recommend.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO APPLY?
For those of you applying for your second or third time, welcome back! Our application process for 2026 has four parts:
1. Online application with resume
2. A scenario based video round
3. Personal intro video (evaluated by our builders!)
4. In-person interview at HXP headquarters or on Zoom
*Some candidates will be asked to join us for a follow-up interview*
Here’s a tip…the sooner you apply, the better chance you have of getting a spot.
We hire on a rolling basis, with five waves of applications:
- Wave 1: Closes July 27th
- Wave 2: Closes September 26th
- Wave 3: Closes November 2nd
- Wave 4: Closes December 28th
- Wave 5 and final deadline: Closes January 21st
All decisions will then be communicated by February 27, 2026 and trip assignments will be announced at “Sorting Day” on March 6, 2026 (which is mandatory to attend either in-person or over zoom).
